Auto req ID 25823BR Business Title Research Assistant I Lab School/Unit Harvard Medical School Sub-Unit ------------ Location USA - MA - Boston Job Function Research Time Status Full-time Schedule Monday through Friday; 9:00 am - 5:00 pm Department Neurobiology Salary Grade 052 Union 55 - Hvd Union Cler & Tech Workers Duties & Responsibilities Large Neurobiology lab at Harvard Medical School looking for a well-organized, motivated and responsible Biology technician. The successful candidate will work closely with a post-doctoral fellow managing iPS and neuronal cell cultures and doing basic molecular cell biology techniques including plasmid DNA preparation, PCR, sub-cloning, PAGE, western blot analysis, transfection of cells in culture, immunohistochemistry, fluorescence microscopy, data analysis etc. Daily duties would be approximately 50% tissue culture and 50% bench work.
Basic Qualifications College background or equivalent work experience, preferably in a related discipline. At least one year related work experience (relevant course work may count towards experience).
Additional Qualifications Demonstrated abilities in basic laboratory techniques helpful, but not required. Basic computer skills especially related to Microsoft Office programs are essential. Must have good communications skills and be a team player. Experience with mouse handling is a plus. May be required to lift, move and transport related laboratory equipment. May be required to work with a variety of hazardous materials.
Additional Information This is a one year term position with the possibility of renewal based on available funding and job performance.
