Role Summary/Purpose

The Repair Engineer will develop practical and innovative ways to identify and meet repair and productivity project goals supporting Steam Turbine hardware. This role is responsible for delivering overhaul and repair projects from concept to industrialization.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
  • Provide technical and project engineering leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project
  • Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews


Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor?s of Science Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science
  • Minimum of 3 additional years of experience in an engineering position

    Desired Characteristics

    • Knowledge of steam turbine hardware and manufacturing (Industrial Power Generation)
    • Strong project management experience driving engineering projects
    • Proven ability to manage project schedule and budget
    • Hands-on practical engineer
    • Demonstrated presentation skills using Microsoft PowerPoint to report project status and drive team consensus and decision-making
    • Knowledgeable on the use and application of FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis)
    • Proven ability to develop a compelling business case in support of an engineering productivity project
    • Ability to work with and/or lead suppliers, external resources, or supporting organizations
    • Proven analysis and problem solving skills
    • Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
    • Minimum 2 years experience in manufacturing environment driving productivity and cost reduction solutions
    • Experience with welding (SAW, GTAW, SMAW, Resistance welding) and brazing (induction heating, oxyacetylene)
    • Experience with the design of fixtures and tooling
    • Experience with machine tools (lathes, CNC, forming, bending, EDM)
    • Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics
    • Experience with cleaning and surface finishing of industrial equipment
    • Experience in the use and adoption of Lean manufacturing
    • Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
    • Experience in the development and completion of a Design of Experiment (DOE)
    • Knowledge of nondestructive testing (Dye Penetrant Inspection, Eddy Current Inspection, Magnetic Particle inspection, Radiographic Inspection, Ultrasonic Inspection)
    • Knowledge of FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and mechanical design principles for tooling and fixtures
    • Experience with factory simulation modeling
    • PC proficiency
    • Develops a strong team and breeds positive moral
