Promotes the success of each student by facilitating the development, articulation, implementation and stewardship of a 21st Century vision of learning that is shared and supported by the school community. Demonstrated experience in diverse, urban educational settings. Ability to successfully complete a writing sample, analysis and presentation of achievement data, and instructional coaching exercise at the time of the interview required. Effective written and verbal communication skills required. Additional Information Facts about Safford Engineering/Technology Magnet School and Safford Elementary School Enrollment: 725 students Grades: K-8 Our site is two schools on the same campus: Safford Elementary School (K-5), and Safford Engineering/Technology Magnet Middle School (6-8). Our average enrollment is around 725 students, 225 at the elementary and 500 at the middle school. There is one principal for both schools. The first school was built on our site in 1888 and was called The Plaza School. In 1904, The Plaza School was officially renamed Safford School, in honor of Governor A.P.K. Safford. Being an Engineering/Technology Magnet School, we place a special emphasis on engineering and technology. Additionally, Safford K-8 is seeking candidate status for International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme and Middle Years Programme. The IB Primary Years Programme focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both within the classroom and in the world outside. The IB Middle Years Programme provides a framework of academic challenge and encourages students to embrace and understand the connections between traditional subjects and the real world, and become critical thinkers.
