People Development Training Manager



The People Development Training Manager is responsible for supporting the People Development Pillar. The focus of this position is to develop, manage and measure both World Class Manufacturing (WCM) and technical training. The primary responsibilities are creating training plans aligned to the plant's needs and budget. Track/report training results, including cost and benefit of the training. Identify opportunities to improve training with respect to effectiveness and efficiency. Develop programs for trainee certification in both World Class Manufacturing (WCM) and technical disciplines. Work with other WCM teams to identify and plan training needs to eliminate plant losses and human errors from the production process based on root cause analysis. Develop an internal trainer development and certification process.

Additional responsibilities may include optimizing the employee suggestion process to promote people involvement. Ensure effective communication throughout the facility by optimizing the communication network. Assist with WCM audit preparations. Position may be located at Sterling Heights Assembly Plant or other Detroit-area plant or office.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree
• Minimum 5 years of Human Resources experience and/or training management experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Access.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree in Human Resources, Education or Pscyhology
• Minimum 5 years experience as a training manager, preferably in a manufacturing environment
• Self-directed and proficient at multi-tasking
• Proficient at solutions-based thinking
• Knowledge of adult learning theories and models
• Knowledge of various education and training methods and tools
• Prior experience as a trainer
• Training curriculum development experience
• Lean manufacturing experience in an automotive company
• Project management and time management skills
• Strong written and verbal communications skills, including ability to present in front of an audience
• Excellent interpersonal skills; must be able to successfully interact with all levels of management and union in order to achieve expected results
• Some travel may be required, approximately 10-15% domestic
