PEHR - Non-Tenure Track Faculty Vacancy Pool

About the Position:
The Physical Education, Health & Recreation Department (PEHR) maintains a vacancy pool of qualified persons interested in temporary teaching positions. In anticipation of possible openings throughout the academic year and summer sessions, applications are accepted continuously for temporary non-tenure track teaching positions on a part-time basis with occasional opportunities for temporary, full-time appointments. Positions may become available at any time and are typically filled on a quarterly basis.
Currently we are accepting applications for the following courses:
* Recreation Program courses - depending on qualifications

About the Department:The PEHR Department is one of the oldest and largest professional programs at Western. There are currently 600 undergraduate and 25 graduate students enrolled in the three programs, making it large enough to provide a comprehensive curriculum. The department's faculty members are dedicated to teaching, involved in research, experienced in their fields, and active in professional organizations. The common theme that links all three programs is quality of life, as experience through the union of mind, body, and spirit.
Position Responsibilities:The Department, the College, and the University value teaching and expects each person hired to be an exemplary teacher; to be current in his/her discipline; to engage students actively in their own learning, including discussion, writing, and analysis; and to maintain high standards regarding course content. Those hired are expected to provide students with feedback on their course work and examinations, and to be available to students through regularly scheduled office hours in keeping with department policy. Those hired will be expected to evaluate the course using the standard University evaluation forms and to make those evaluations available to the department chair and faculty for annual review.
Those hired are invited to participate in scholarly and/or creative activity. This is not required for limited-term employment, although it is recognized that it can contribute to the quality of instruction.
Required Qualifications:
* Master's degree in the field of studies for which you are applying (physical education, health OR recreation)
* Professional teaching experience
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience working with diverse students and staff
Academic Emphasis:Physical Education, Health, and Recreation
