    Job Summary

    A Visiting Scientist participates as an active member in a CHOP-based research program for a pre-determined, but limited length of time (generally a year or less). Purpose may be to establish or further an on-going collaboration, to learn new techniques or to develop skills to advance research. . Conducts research projects under the general supervision of CHOP-based faculty or staff during onsite collaboration. A Visiting Scientist is a scholar visiting CHOP from an outside institution or organization. Such an individual may be funded entirely by their home institution.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Participates in research of mutual interest and relevance to the CHOP-based research group to which the Visiting Scientist is affiliated.

    • Designs and develops research experiments and strategies.

    • Trains and develops team members in research program. Provides expert advice. Learns relevant new skills from team members in research program.

    • Develop new methods and protocols for research, and assist with the development of other research projects as needed.

    • Participate in research group activities, including laboratory and other meetings, as requested by Principal Investigator.

    • Attend intramural research conferences as appropriate.

    None

    Required Education and Experience

    • Master’s Degree, must be working towards a Doctoral degree at the home institution.
    • 1 year prior experience / interest in a scientifically relevant discipline.

    Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

    • Terminal degree (PhD, MD, DVM, or equivalent) with experience / interest in a scientifically relevant discipline.
    •  The individual must be visiting from an accredited academic or research institution.
