Job Description

NOTE: Position only open to employees currently permanent in the underlying Civil Service title of Principal Administrative Associate.
NOTE:This grant-funded assignment is for one (1) year with the possibility of renewal for up to three (3) years.
 
Position Summary:  The Operations Coordinator, Teacher Effectiveness Support supports the Director of Operations in the planning, execution, and management of all Teacher Effectiveness Program professional development and training sessions to participating pilot schools, networks, and other Department of Education (DOE) constituents.  This is part ofthe launch and scale up of an innovative andcomprehensive teacher talent management system that focuses on teacher development and evaluation. Performs related work.

Key Relationships:  The Operations Coordinator works closely with the Director of Operations, Teacher Effectiveness; Office of Teacher Effectiveness staff; Office of Talent Management Strategy; Division of Academics, Performance, and Support; Teacher Effectiveness pilot school leaders and teachers; vendors; and other internal and external offices, as needed.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
 
* Schedule venues and organize site visits with vendors in order to conduct location walk-throughs and make arrangements for security, operations, and audio-visual equipment requirements.
* Coordinate and track representation for Teacher Effectiveness professional development and training sessions and key events, e.g., task force meetings and feedback sessions, and other meetings that may include professional development activities.
* Manage and monitor inventory, distribution, and secured storage of Teacher Effectiveness professional development and training materials, resources, and equipment.
* Assist the Director of Operations, Teacher Effectiveness and Operations Manager with writing reports, tracking event payments, completing fiscal year-end reconciliation, and closing out balances for Teacher Effectiveness grants.
* Provide support and technical assistance to the Office of Teacher Effectiveness, pilot schools, and vendors regarding inquiries pertaining to Teacher Effectiveness professional development and training.
* Maintain Teacher Effectiveness professional development and training calendar.
* Monitor the Teacher Effectiveness e-mail account and direct messages as appropriate.
 
Qualification Requirements:
 
Minimum
 
* A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three (3) years of satisfactory full‐time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, one (1) year of which must have been in an administrative capacity or supervising staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or
* An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four (4) years of satisfactory full‐time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one (1) year of the administrative supervisory experience described in1above; or
* A four‐year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State’s department of   education or a recognized accrediting organizationand five (5) years of satisfactory full‐time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one (1) year of the administrative supervisory experience as described in1above;
* Education and/or experience equivalent to1,2, or3above. However, all candidates must possess the one (1) year of administrative or supervisory experience as described in1above. Education above the high school level may be substituted for the general clerical/administrative experience (but not for the one (1) year of administrative or supervisory experience described in1above) at a rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for 6 months of experience up to a maximum of 3½ years.

* Possess strong problem solving, organizational, and effective verbal and written communications skills.
* Willingness to travel around New York City by public transportation.
* Knowledge of DOE’s policies and procedures.
* Proficient with using the Internet and the Microsoft Applications suite, e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
 
Salary:$56,911+
