Ross University School of Medicine, located on the beautiful Caribbean island of Dominica in the West Indies, invites applications for a Medical Simulation Operations Sepcialist. Under the direction of the Medical Simulation Program Coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible for supporting operational aspets of the Simulation Center. The mission of Ross University School of Medicine is to prepare highly dedicated students to become effective, successful physicians in the United States. Basic science coursework is taught in Dominica and students then complete their clinical studies in the United States. After passing all prerequisite examinations, Ross graduates are licensed to practice medicine in all 50 states of the U.S. Ross University School of Medicine is a division of DeVry, Inc (NYSE:DV) Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Interacts and communicates with faculty to develop and implement educational activities, general and specific. 2) Sets up stations and takes down equipment and materials for simulation learning activities. Wash, clean & arrange laboratory areas and equipment. 3) Able to program, provide routine maintenance, use, disassemble, and troubleshoot simulation equipment. Demonstrates and teaches technical aspects of simulator operation and programming to faculty and staff. 4) Operates and manipulates patient simulators features and settings “on-the-fly”. 5) Develops a schedule of simulator activities to include periodic review and maintenance of equipment. 6) Maintains inventory of all supplies and completes requisitions for resupply. 7) Develops and maintains contacts/relationships with equipment vendors. 8) Coordinates activities of technical staff, and assists in scheduling activities with in the simulation program. 9) Independently, or as part of a team, assist students in utilization of simulation equipment, providing an appropriate orientation to simulator features and simulated learning environment. 10) Role play as needed for case authenticity during simulations. 11) Performs all other duties as needed or directed to meet the needs of the Department of Integrated Medical Education. 12) Functional user of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint Software. 13) Familiarity with basic operation of A/V equipment. 14) Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Qualifications:
Education: Minimum Associate Degree in a healthcare discipline; Preferred Paramedic background.
Experience: Previous experience in critical care and education is preferred. At least 3 years of clinical experience required and 5 years preferred. No disciplinary, conduct or revocation of state licensure. Experience in BLS, ACLS or ATLS is preferred.
