TEACHING ASSIGNMENT IS GEOMETRY OR eville Joint Union High School District Teacher, Comprehensive High School POSITION: CLASSROOM TEACHER DEFINITION: Under the immediate supervision of the site administrator(s) provide an instructional program in one or more subject areas to pupils in grades nine through twelve. Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the District. Does related work as assigned. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES: Develops and presents lessons that demonstrate planning and preparation and are consistent with departmental courses of study; develops and presents lessons with performance objectives that are understood by the students and are supportive of District goals and teacher expectation; evaluates student progress based primarily on achievement of performance objectives; uses a variety of instructional techniques and materials which are appropriate to the course and to the students; develops and maintains a suitable learning environment; demonstrates and promotes responsibility to, and consideration for, others; treats students with courtesy and respect; maintains current records of student's attendance and progress that can be easily understood and readily interpreted by others; participates cooperatively with other staff members in the development and implementation of curriculum and instruction and other matters of mutual concern; keeps up-to-date in subject area and continually seeks to improve instructional techniques; adheres to District policies and procedures; attends and participates in departmental, school, and District meetings; supervises proper use of equipment and facilities with student safety in mind; demonstrates concern for social, psychological, emotional, and academic needs of students; acknowledges professional responsibility to support and supervise co-curricular activities and cooperates with the administration to achieve equitable assignments consistent with individual interests and preferences; cooperates in use and care of all equipment and materials; is aware of total school and District educational programs; promotes responsibility among students; communicates with school counselors regarding individual student progress; provides plans for substitute teachers as needed that are meaningful and provide students with relevant learning activities; shares in the sponsorship of student activities and participates in faculty committees. QUALIFICATIONS: A valid California teaching credential authorizing service at the specific grade levels and subject areas taught. DESCRIPTION OF PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Medical Category I 1. Position requires normal physical strength and endurance for standing, sitting, bending, or walking. 2. Work assignments are normally located in a work environment with light physical work and requires light physical effort. 3. Lifting 25 lbs. maximum or carrying any object weighing over 15 lbs.
