Under the direction and supervision of the Principal, Department of Secondary Education, and the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, the Secondary Mathematics Instructional Coach will provide instructional support services to teachers and school sites in raising the academic achievement of students in ckton Unified School District Math, Instructional Coach SECONDARY MATHEMATICS INSTRUCTIONAL COACH Description: Under the direction and supervision of the Principal, Department of Secondary Education, and the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, the Secondary Mathematics Instructional Coach will provide instructional support services to teachers and school sites in raising the academic achievement of students in Mathematics. Duties and Responsibilities: - Classroom demonstration lessons on district adopted curriculum, ancillaries and research-based effective instructional strategies. - Instructional Coaching strategies with classroom teachers and site instructional support staff. - Collaborate with classroom teachers in content/department planning meetings to analyze student work, review classroom assessment information, and plan for standards-based instructional models. - Understand and demonstrate benchmarking techniques to support students numeracy skills. - Analyze Math CST, CAHSEE, CELDT, formative, quarter and semester assessment information to drive instructional practice in targeted classrooms (e.g., Development of individual student learning plans). - Provide formal and informal staff development related to both district adopted curriculum and effective research-based instructional strategies. - Demonstrate specific pedagogical strategies shown to promote mastery of rigorous academic content by diverse learners with varying skill sets. - Demonstrate engaging and rigorous curricula when addressing instructional practices in the classroom. - Participate in an extensive professional development program to deepen understanding of effective, research-based practices in the area of Instructional Coaching. - Complete SB 472 Mathematics training (Algebra). - Be willing to accept a flexible work schedule to meet site instruction and intervention needs (e.g., early/late start to provide before/after school instruction). - Network with fellow Instructional Coaches on a monthly basis. - Execute and prepare such forms, records, reports as may be called for in the management and accountability of the Instructional Coaching program. Required Qualifications: 1. A valid secondary mathematics teaching credential. 2. All candidates are required to hold a CLAD or higher level of EL certification. 3. A minimum of three (3) years satisfactory teaching experience in grades 9-12. 4. Knowledge and competence in Data Director Systems. 5. Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional learning. 6. Knowledge of basic principles of teaching Mathematics, including differentiated instruction, direct instruction and other research-based instructional practices. 7. Knowledge of second-language acquisition theory, and experience with English Language Development and Specially Designed Academic Instruction in English (SDAIE). 8. Ability to work collaboratively with other professional staff to improve instruction. 9. Excellent written and oral communication skills for collaboration and staff development. Funding: State and Federal Categorical Funds Work Year: Regular teacher's work year plus two (2) days Salary: Regular teacher's salary schedule plus factor (Other Specialist) Applicants must submit a cover letter and resume describing the training and/or experience that they feel qualifies them for the position.
