The College of Arts and Sciences at Boston University is pleased to announce the establishment of the Maria Stata Professorship in Classical Greek Studies. The successful candidate will be a distinguished, internationally recognized, and accomplished scholar in ancient Greek studies, broadly defined, who will hold the rank of Professor with tenure in an appropriate department, especially, but not limited to Archaeology, Classical Studies, the History of Art & Architecture, or Philosophy, depending on the specific field of expertise. The Stata Professor will build upon the historical quality and importance of ancient Greek studies at Boston University. The successful candidate will have an exceptional record of research and scholarship, teaching and directing both undergraduates and graduate students in his/her field of expertise, and evidence of professional citizenship and leadership. The Stata Professor will also commit to teaching undergraduate courses on ancient Greece in English translation.
