Manager, Training









Job Description:




This position is responsible for managing a team of Instructional Designers who create, modify, and enhance a diverse array of courses for the purpose of improving the performance of individuals and groups for the Sales organization. The focus of this work is managing and maintaining curriculum paths in support of a diverse array of jobs within T-Mobile primarily with a frontline employee focus. As this is a Manager position, the successful candidate would direct a team of various Instructional Designer in addition to reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Learning and Development









Primary Responsibilities:





  • Develop and maintain a consultative relationship with key stakeholders to identify curriculum requirements.



  • Manage the following position requirements for the Learning and Development team:



  • Conduct needs analyses, validate need for training, and identify learning objectives.



  • Determine the proper blend of instructor- led, hands-on, and web- based training to be used in a given solution.



  • Work with subject matter experts to obtain information and validate courseware content.



  • Based on proficiency updates, work with internal partners and business Subject Matter Experts to identify new training needs and map them to the appropriate tools/systems.



  • Work with internal partners to develop assessments to measure learning impact



  • Apply instructional design theory and techniques for adult learners, and utilize established curriculum development methodology in the design and development of appropriate, effective curriculum.



  • Develop and maintain Leader and Learner Guides, Workbooks, Handouts, eLearning, Assessments, and other components as required for the specific training need.



  • Coordinate implementation of newly developed curriculum with internal customers, Training Delivery partners, and partner management.



  • Develop and conduct Train the Trainer sessions to train Leaders in methods of curriculum delivery.



  • Maintain a "hands-on" approach to the curriculum by having first hand experience with the subject matter being trained.



  • Ensure all training meets and supports T- Mobile's quality initiatives and measurements.



  • Continually evaluate the effectiveness of training by developing and implementing post- instruction evaluation tools and criteria, such as focus groups and classroom observations.



  • Assure overall quality of the curriculum to exceed customer expectations; this includes all course materials, Train the Trainers, tools, and other resources.



  • Work with vendors as needed to develop assessments, content, systems, etc.









Other Responsibilities:





  • Utilize project management skills to define and meet project milestones; communicate issues and risks in a timely manner, and escalate to senior Talent Development management as necessary.



  • Recommend and implement training improvements that meet business objectives and maximizes benefits to customers and employees.



  • Act as a lead and coach by managing and guiding your direct reports as well as the learning and development team of instructional designers.



  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Business, Communication or related field, or equivalent work experience required.



  • Master's degree preferred.



  • Five to ten years demonstrated success with increasing responsibility and various assignments in designing both traditional and web-based courses in a corporate environment.



  • Two to four years experience managing a training or curriculum team.



  • Three to five years experience developing technical training for wireless technologies and devices preferred.



  • Experience applying a systematic instructional design approach to the creation of learning programs.



  • Ability to work within a collaborative environment, multi-task, and work within aggressive timeframes.



  • Strong project planning and management skills.



  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; effective interpersonal and team work skills.



  • Position preference to be located at the Field Service Center in Factoria, WA.



Knowledge, Skills and abilities:





  • Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook



  • Paper-based and eLearning development tools



  • Desktop publishing processes



  • Project management tools



  • Captivate experience preferred



  • Graphics editing software experience preferred



  • Adobe (Macromedia) Web development software knowledge preferred



  • Systems design and development experience preferred, but not required.



  • Willingness to travel as required.

  • The employee will have frequent internal customer contact and must be able to partner effectively with internal customers and project stakeholders.



  • Employee may be required to travel approximately 20%.









Work Environment:




The employee will perform a majority of responsibilities indoors. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
