Kelly IT Resources is seeking a contract to hire or full-time LINUX/VMWare Systems Administrator for a growing manufacturing company on the north side of Milwaukee.
POSITION OVERVIEW : The Systems Administrator supports all the divisions of the organization by ensuring the availability of client server applications and developing process and procedures for the ongoing management of the server environment. The Systems Administrator's role is to design, install, administer, and optimize company servers and related components to achieve high performance of the various business applications supported by IT. The successful candidate will have a strong background in LINUX operating systems along with VMware.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : • BS degree in computer science with 3-5 years of IT operations experience; or Associates degree with equivalent work experience • 3 - 5 years experience with Red Hat Linux • 3 - 5 years experience with VMware • Experience supporting servers, MS Windows O/S, Active Directory, server applications, peripherals, printers, LAN equipment, network protocols, etc • Demonstrated experience in network and server capacity planning and troubleshooting bottlenecks • Experience managing mid to large scale datacenters • Analytical and problem-solving abilities in diagnosing and resolving OS, Server, SAN or Datacenter Infrastructure equipment • Strong project management skills in leading or being a technical lead on an IT initiative. • Ability to build relationships and provide solid customer service across both technical and functional areas of the business • Demonstrated communication skills in working with both functional and technical teams at various levels in the business
PREFERRED Qualifications : • Experience in working in and supporting an manufacturing environment • Red Hat Linux certification • Microsoft Certified System Engineer certification • Experience with Active Directory • Experience with Oracle • VMware Skills • Microsoft Exchange administration skills
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES: • Lead, coordinate and participate in key process improvements as they relate to the client/server environment. • Coordinate and collaborate with network, business application, and database administration resources to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of corporate servers to meet business demands. • Design, implement and manage client/server environments; architect the infrastructure required to support strategies in the operations of E-mail, ERP applications, file / print, backup and disaster recovery, Linux, Active Directory and associated application software. • Administer and develop strategies for storage technologies such as SAN or NAS • Act as project lead in the design and review of new server systems, applications, and hardware; regularly conduct asset management and capacity planning exercises. • Establish and implement policies, procedures, and technologies (including firewalls) to ensure server security. • Assist in designing and implementing data center/server room security features, including HVAC control, environmental alarms, access restrictions and UPS. • Assure IT Operations service levels are met. • Work with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to procure network products and services. • Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights. Participate in On-Call support rotation.
