Library Media/Technology Specialist
Title: Library Media/Technology Specialist Location: FL: FLORIDA-WEST PALM BEACH Training for this position will be held in West Palm Beach, Florida. Ultimately, this position will be located on Andros Island, Bahamas.
Responsible for providing library media/technology curriculum to implement, enrich, and support the educational program of the school on the AUTEC project.
Performs many of the following responsibilities: * Organize, manage, and supervise the school's library media center, computer lab, and related services. * Provide leadership for library media/technology and collaborate with teachers to incorporate the SACS Standards. * Teach information and research skills and use the library media center as part of the study skills and research. * Act as a partner/team teacher to classroom teachers on presentations of enriched curriculum materials to students. * Include classroom instructions on a regular basis. * Promote reading and provide literature to support the curriculum. * Consult with staff in the use of resources to meet instructional needs and work with staff to determine curriculum support material. * Perform other duties as assigned.
Education: Masters Degree in Library and Information Science.
Experience, Certificates and Licenses: Three years related experience working in Library Media environment. Valid Teachers Certificate with learning resources endorsement preferred . Valid Drivers License and passport will be required.
Security Clearance: Must meet eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain the required government security clearance.
Special Knowledge/Skills Required: * Energetically promote the use of the library media center to students and staff as a tool to stimulate an appreciation for life-long learning. * Apply management skills to people, program, collection, and budget. * Provide individualized services to students and staff, such as reference and reading guidance: assist students in research. * Participates in professional activities to stay current with changes in the curriculum, technology, and the library media field. * Consistently enforce clear, high behavioral expectations. * Function productively as a team member in planning, support, and providing instructions. * Share with other staff members the responsibility for school activities and student supervision. * Supervise community/student volunteers and library media/computer lab support staff. * Successful library/media experience at the K-12 level preferred. * Successful teaching experience at the K-12 level preferred. * Ability to inspire students and staff in reading and technology literacy. * Ability to work with staff, students, and parents in a cooperative manner. * Ability to promote enthusiasm and positive learning environment. * Excellent oral and written communication skills. * Must be able to reside in remote location with limited medical facilities.
