Job Summary:
This position provides financial and administrative guidance and planning recommendations through the collection, analysis, review, and monitoring of Legal budget data and other metrics relating to significant internal control, financial, and administrative processes. The incumbent will also assist with vendor management, administration of various software systems (e.g, e-billing software), law library maintenance and expense reconciliation. Essential Functions:
* Analyzes spending trends and patterns to ensure optimum use of division financial resources; makes recommendations to Manager on analysis and findings. * Uses financial analysis methods to assist in the development and monitoring of budgets (including capital, non-capital, and legal expenses) as well as forecasts, the guess, long range outlook, and business plan. * Assists with the configuration, design and administration of CT TyMetrix (electronic billing system) daily operations, changes in configuration and overall vendor management. Makes necessary recommendations and changes. * Tracks and analyzes non-salary department expenses. Conducts preliminary audits or reviews of legal department expenses. Reconciles department statements (coordinates necessary adjustments or follows up with questions). * Conducts monthly, quarterly and annual variance analysis (actual to budget, budget to forecast and actual to forecast) * Assists with standardizing processes for law firms to ensure more accurate reporting to finance and accounting. Monitors vendors' compliance with internal control requirements. * Assists with the plans and facilitates the allocation of resources and funds to operate all general administrative support functions of the legal department (additional software required, library materials, equipment, etc.) including pricing and analysis of options. Works with vendors and other operating companies on potential systems; makes recommendations to Manager on system/equipment viability at FedEx Ground. * Assists with equipment warranty tracking (laptops, smartphones, publication memberships, etc.) and procurement of Legal Division equipment. Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree in Finance or related field required Minimum Experience:
2 years experience in business, accounting, finance and/or an analytical field Required Skills - Abilities and/or Licensure:
* Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel * Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate with all levels of management * Ability to anticipate and identify problems and use sound judgment and fact-based analysis to develop effective and efficient solutions * Ability to analyze, review, and make recommendations * Knowledge of fundamental accounting principles
