NO Professional Area Faculty, Tenure Track Department CLA-Science, Technology and Policy Employment Status Full Time Faculty Information Assistant or Associate Professor Department Description The Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) seeks applicants for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor in the Science, Technology, and Society/Public Policy (STS/PP) Department. The department is seeking a teacher-scholar who can contribute to high-quality undergraduate and graduate education and pursue an active program of research and scholarship.
The STS/PP Department offers a B.S. in Public Policy and a M.S. in Science, Technology, and Public Policy, as well as a wide range of minors (Environmental Studies; Science and Technology Studies; Public Policy; Science and Technology Policy; Historical Perspectives in Science and Technology) supporting RIT's general education program. The Department is currently planning for a B.S. degree in Environmental Studies and is expanding its curricular relationship with the RIT College of Engineering. Brief Description The area of specialization for this tenure-track position is in public policy; preference will be given to candidates with training and scholarship whose work reflects an integration of science, engineering, public policy, and STS. Preference will be given to candidates who can teach the core public policy curriculum including policy analysis. Candidates with backgrounds that integrate the science and engineering fields with the social sciences and humanities are encouraged to apply. We seek candidates with demonstrated potential to be excellent teachers and researchers, and with interest in working in a collaborative, interdisciplinary, intellectually stimulating environment. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate level. A Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree is required in an appropriate field prior to the position start date.
To be considered for an appointment at the Associate level, applicants must have a record of sustained and continuing high-quality research and substantial teaching experience. At the Associate level, preference will be given to candidates with a track record of external funding and with a clear interest in policy issues that support the degree programs.

Job Requirements REQUIRED: * Ph.D. or terminal degree in an appropriate field at time of appointment. * A demonstrated ability to teach effectively. * An ability to teach policy analysis, using quantitative or qualitative methods, at the undergraduate and graduate levels * For rank of Assistant Professor, candidates must have strong research skills, potential for scholarly research, and potential for university and public service. * For rank of Associate Professor, candidates must have a strong record of scholarly research, substantial teaching experience and evidence of teaching excellence, and a demonstrated record of university and public service.
