Infant/Toddler Teacher

The University of Southern California (USC), founded in 1880, is located in the heart of downtown L.A. and is the largest private employer in the City of Los Angeles. As an employee of USC, you will be a part of a world-class research university and a member of the "Trojan Family," which is comprised of the faculty, students and staff that make the university what it is.

USC's School for Early Childhood Education is seeking an Infant-Toddler Teacher/EHS/ARRA to provide a successful, safe, and supervised educational setting for children while they are in the USC-SECE environment (classroom, outdoor play area, and field trips).

The Infant-Toddler Teacher/EHS/ARRA, teaches a group of young children in a preschool, day care center or other child development facility. Designs activities to promote social, physical and intellectual growth in preparation for primary school. Maintains quality standards.


Job Accountabilities: Implements a program selected curriculum that takes into account the results of screenings and assessments and weekly observations.

Meets time lines for all reports, screenings, assessments required and assigned.

Works cooperatively with other staff in the delivery of services to children and families.

Conducts ongoing assessments based on specified timelines. Based on these assessment tools, teachers will maintain monthly anecdotal notes that highlight infant/toddler children's progress.

Works cooperatively with other staff in the delivery of services to children and families.

Conducts monthly reflective supervision meetings with the Associate Teacher to discuss goals for the month, tasks, provide feedback on work performance, and discuss new ideas for the classroom.

Meets all of the Head Start Performance Standards as outlined in CFR 1304, State licensing requirement, and the State Preschool Funding Terms & Conditions.

Individual may act to promote parent involvement through home visits and parent teacher conferences, as well as other informal means of communication.

Produces classroom updates and/or newsletters that are distributed during the monthly, classroom meetings held at the beginning of every month.
