Department Description
The Child and Family Center (CFC) is located on the campus of the Rockefeller University. Childcare and education at the CFC is available to families affiliated with Rockefeller University. Parents need to apply far ahead of the time that they will need childcare and education for their child as there is great demand for the spaces. Our families reflect the multicultural dimension of science. They come from all over the world to study and work here. We have as many as 26 different languages represented in our student body. Our teaching staff is also multinational. Many of the teachers are bi-lingual.
Detailed Description
Will work to establish and maintain a safe, healthy learning environment and set an organizational and emotional tone for the room that will be responsive to the needs of the children, parents, and team. Will work specifically with infants, and assess the educational and developmental needs of each child. Will plan and implement a curriculum that will enhance the development of the children in all areas (social, emotional, cognitive, physical) with an awareness of the needs of each child. Will promote positive and productive relationships.
Job Requirements
Master's degree or Master's degree in progress required; educational emphasis in early childhood education and/or childhood development preferred. Must have excellent managerial, organizational and communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively and lead a team. Must be a self-starter and have flexibility and a sense of t be able to engage in a full range of motion, stand and walk for extended periods, bend, push, pull, squat, climb, run, get up and down from the floor with ease, and walk on even and uneven surfaces. Must be able to lift, hold, or carry up to 50 pounds. Must be able to reach above the shoulders, grasp, and touch. Manual dexterity and eye-hand control necessary. Corrected hearing and vision to normal range necessary. Must be able to perform diaper changes when necessary and be able to supervise and interact with children outdoors for extended periods in variable weather conditions. Must be comfortable in unpredictable situation and emergencies.
