Group Fitness Instructor
About the Position:Looking for a part time fitness instructor to teach a 3 times per week fitness class, with the opportunity to sub other classes, and the possibility to teach more classes in the future. The instruction would be to Western's Faculty and Staff during the workday.
About the Department:The Faculty & Staff Wellness Program under Human Resources. Our mission is to create a supportive environment that encourages choosing a healthy lifestyle encompassing the emotional, physical, and spiritual dimensions of wellness. We are committed to educating, facilitating, encouraging, and supporting decisions and actions of wellness by program participants.www.wwu.edu/employeewellness Position Responsibilities: This is a basic list of responsibilities: * Be to class on time and prepared to teach * Have a class exercise plan * Be responsible for equipment set up, take down, and care * Collect Hold Harmless Agreements * Be the communication and voice from the program to the participants * Know when classes begin, end, holidays etc. and remind participants of these dates * Be up to date with Wellness Website information * Be able to answer questions and/or appropriately direct participants to Wellness Director for more information * Let us know when you are in need of equipment, and if there are any problems or issues with equipment that arise * Communicate when you are sick, or will be gone on a day that you teach as far in advance as possible Required Qualifications: * CPR/FIRST AID Certified * Certified to teach group fitness through an accredited program (Examples: ACE, ACSM, NSCA) * Must be adaptive, have a good attitude, and be outgoing * Must be able to adapt workouts to worksite environment Preferred Qualifications: * Experience instructing Step Aerobics and other fitness classes * Experience working for a worksite wellness and/or fitness program * Experience working with an aging population Academic Emphasis:N/A Job Location:Western Washington University, Bellingham, WA
