Deadline is at 5:00 p.m. IF UNABLE TO SCAN MATERIALS PLEASE FAX TO ced County Office Of Education Teacher Assistant I (PDD) 13A/D MERCED COUNTY OFFICE OF EDUCATION POSITION TITLE: Teacher Assistant I (PDD/Autism)) SALARY RANGE: CLS/31 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Satisfactory results from pre-employment phyusical required. Education and/or Training: AA/AS Degree. Experience: Over one year of experience working with children in an educational setting. Credentials and/or Skills: New employees must pass proficiency test. Proof of CA driver's license and minimum amount of liability insurance required by law; insurable by MCOE carrier. DMV H6 printout required. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Education and/or Training: College coursework in psychology, child development or special education. Experience: Experience working with children with challenging behaviors. Credentials and/or Skills: Bilingual and/or sign language skills. Applied Behavior Analysis, Discrete Trial or Direct Instruction. SUMMARY OF POSITION: Under the direction of the teacher, will implement the educational program for individual students. Assist with implementation of behavioral plan, utilizing appropriate methods to consequate and teach new behaviors. Perform a variety of routine tasks, such as feeding, toileting and loading buses. This position is included in the classified bargaining unit and is subject to terms of the union agreement regarding membership, payment of like fee, or donation to recognized charity. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Assists with functional analysis of student behavior (identify antecedents, behaviors and consequences and possible functions the behavior serves that student). 2. Observes, records and completes accurate program data on student's achievement of IEP and behavior plan objectives. 3. Implements instructional and behavioral interventions for individuals or small groups. 4. In collaboration with teacher proposes and implements changes in instructional cues, prompts, consequences and pacing of tasks. 5. Assists in training other staff in behavior intervention procedures. 6. Consults with families and other professionals (i.e., respite workers, day care workers, residential care staff and social workers). 7. Follows federal, state and local requirements for implementing emergency interventions. 8. Provides supervision in such activities as field trips, rest time, recreation periods, meal time and busing as required. 9. Performs student care tasks, such as feeding, personal hygiene and toileting, as necessary. 10. Prepares materials necessary for instructional purposes. Duties may include basic clerical tasks. 11. Attends and participates in staff meetings and inservices as required. 12. Operates a motor vehicle. 13. May be temporarily assigned to other programs in similar position as needed. 14. Performs other related essential functions as assigned. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Employees in this position must have the ability to: 1. See and read printed matter with or without vision aids. 2. Hear and understand speech at normal levels with or without hearing aids. 3. Speak so that others may understand at normal levels. 4. Sit, stand, walk, twist, bend over, crawl, grasp, reach overhead, stoop, twist, push or pull. 5. Operate a motor vehicle. 6. Provide services to any age group of student as the need arises that may require the moving, lifting and/or carrying of up to 60 pounds occasionally, 40 pounds frequently and 20 pounds constantly to various heights. 7. Push and/or pull with a maximum force of 37.4 pounds on objects.
