Full/Part Time Status: Full Time Position Description: One or more non-tenure-track renewable Lecturer positions starting in August 2012, renewable annually for three years (2012-2015) and renewable thereafter in three-year increments based on successful review processes and collegiate approval. This position requires 12-15 hours of teaching per week plus related duties including but not limited to participating in placement and proficiency testing; serving on departmental committees; holding office hours; attending faculty and program development meetings; planning and implementing extracurricular activities and orientation programs; mentoring new faculty; administrative duties as needed. This position is for the academic year plus summer.
One or more Lecturer positions starting in August 2012, renewable annually for a total of three years (2012-2015) based on successful review processes and collegiate approval. This position requires 12-15 hours of teaching per week plus related duties including, but not limited to participating in placement and proficiency testing; holding office hours, attending faculty and program development meetings; serving on departmental committees; planning and implementing extracurricular activities and orientation programs. This position is for the academic year with the possibility of summer teaching.
Education Requirement: MA in Linguistics/TESL (including coursework in phonetics, syntax and second language acquisition) Required Qualifications: Renewable Lecturer
Minimum of three years full time English language teaching experience at a post-secondary ESL Program that emphasizes English for Academic Purposes (EAP).
Demonstrated record of excellence in teaching a variety of ESL courses, levels and skills
Demonstrated commitment to an ongoing program of professional development in the field of ESL
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Valid US driver’s license in and the ability to meet the University of Iowa Fleet Safety program driving standards
Fluency in English at the level of a native speaker
Lecturer
Minimum one year experience teaching in a post-secondary ESL Program that emphasizes English for Academic Purposes (EAP).
Demonstrated excellence in teaching
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Valid U.S. driver's license in and the ability to meet the University of Iowa Fleet Safety program driving standards
Fluency in English at the level of a native speaker
