The University of Wisconsin-River Falls, a member of the University of Wisconsin System, is located 30 miles from the Twin Cities of Minneapolis-St. Paul in scenic west central Wisconsin. UW-RF's 6,700 undergraduate and graduate students pursue degrees in four colleges: Arts and Sciences; Education and Professional Studies; Agriculture, Food, and Environmental Science; and Business and Economics. The Position:This is a full time, 12 month, professional academic support position that reports to the Assistant Director of UpwardBound. Reappointment is contingent upon satisfactory performance and available cific Responsibilities:- Working with the Assistant Director to ensure program goals and objectives are met- Coordinating student services on campus and at target high school- Maintain relationships and correspondence with target high school administration and counseling staff- Assisting with student recruitment, supplemental advising/coaching students and communicating with parents- Maintaining files and preparing reports- Supplemental advising/coaching students- Planning and participating in workshops and seminars- Chaperoning events and field tripsKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:- Basic knowledge of TRIO programs and the mission of Upward Bound- An ability to adapt quickly to diverse situations- Basic computer skills in word processing, databases and spreadsheetsQualifications (Required):- Bachelor's degree required,- Demonstrated experience working with high school and/or college students, low income students, students ofcolor, students with disabilities, and/or ESL students- Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to diverse student populations and ability to contribute to the University's commitment to enhancing student awareness and appreciation of diverse ethnic and cultural heritages- Excellent written and oral communication skillsQualifications (Preferred):- Minimum of 2 years in student support role- Public speaking proficiency- Certification in teaching as well as experience in counseling and/or social workTo Apply:Online applications are required at: , letter of interest specifying qualifications and experience (cover letter) and a separate statement addressing your ability to contribute to the enhancement of student awareness and appreciation of diverse cultures.
