Job Description:

The Financial Coordinator coordinates all financial functions of the Development and Communications Department, including the annual expense/revenue budgeting process and preparation/submission of financial reports; acting as liaison with the Finance Department; and supporting the Office of the President in generating Campaign financial reports.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


.Coordinate the annual expense and revenue budgeting process with all department directors and the Vice President

.Prepare and distribute weekly flash reports to all directors and the Vice President, showing revenue against monthly goals

.Prepare and distribute twice monthly flash reports to all directors and the Vice President, showing expenses against monthly budgets

.Reconcile monthly expense summaries against budget for significant variances, and review with directors and the Vice President

.Liaise between the Development Department and the Finance Department on expense and revenue adjustments during the year

.Liaise between the Development Department and the Office of the President in generating regular Campaign financial reports

.Work with all department staff to ensure timely and accurate submission of all expense and time accounting reports

.Provide administrative support to staff for preparation and submission of invoices, cash advances, and other financial instruments

.Cross-train with members of the department support services team on key support skills, including donor acknowledgments and other correspondence, gift and GIK data entry, report generation, presentations, meeting and event scheduling, trip and event planning, etc., and provide help in these areas as needed.

.Monitor all Special Events budgets in close collaboration with Director of Corporate Giving, produce weekly reports, comparisons and other required financial reports as needed.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

.BS/BA in Accounting preferred or relevant work experience;

.Minimum of three to five years prior work experience, expense and time accounting, budget analysis, reconciliation and reviewing financial statements/reporting;

.Proficiency in use of MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, and MapPoint) required. Knowledge of donor database management systems a plus;

.Previous work experience in an Administrative capacity, event scheduling, trip and event planning preferred;

.Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills;

. Ability to work well under pressure, organize and set priorities, meet deadlines, handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
