Field Supervisor, Title I Mathematics Center Program 
Position Summary:The Bureau of Nonpublic School Reimbursable Services implements and administers federally mandated programs for nonpublic school students in accordance with the reorganization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) of 1965,No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. 
In accordance with the New York City Department of Education’s (DOE) policies, and with the provisions of theNo Child Left Behind Act of 2001,the Mathematics field supervisor is responsible for the mandated supervision and rating of mathematics teachers, who are licensed and under the jurisdiction of the DOE, and who are assigned to provide mandated services to Title I students in the nonpublic school sector who are enrolled in the Mathematics Center program. 
The Field Supervisor assists the Senior Instructional Program Specialist (SIPS) in overseeing the functions and daily activities supportive of supplementary services to approximately 11,500 eligible students in grades K-12, in over 220 nonpublic schools.
Reports to:Senior Instructional Program Specialist (SIPS), Title I Mathematics Center Program
Key Relationships:Consults on an on-going basis with DOE Title I and nonpublic school staff regarding the academic performance of students in the regular classroom and in the Title I Mathematics Center program.  Maintains communication with nonpublic school principals regarding all aspects of the Title I Mathematics Center program via individual meetings at the school, citywide meetings and workshops.
Responsibilities
* Visits project site locations to oversee daily activities and direct field-based program functions. Demonstrates effective teaching techniques and evaluates program effectiveness.  Ensures compliance at field sites with all applicable federal, state and local mandates.
* Maintains a liaison with nonpublic school principals and representatives regarding all aspects of the Title I Mathematics Center Program.
* Participates in the design and implementation of activities to effectively bridge Title I content and services with the nonpublic school core curriculum, in accordance with federal requirements.
* Collaborates in the recruitment, selection, supervision and training of all subordinate professional and administrative support staff.  Collaborates in the assignment of licensed DOE teachers for the provision of supplementary services to approximately 9,500 eligible students in grades K-12, attending over 220 nonpublic schools in the 5 boroughs of New York City.
* Provides support for orientation and staff development programs for teachers and paraprofessionals that sustain the implementation of various research-based methodologies for the teaching of mathematical concepts and problem-solving strategies.
* Collaborates on the provision of support for mandated parent involvement activities, including workshops designed to provide parents with effective strategies to support the mathematics instruction that their children receive in school.
* Assists in researching new and innovative approaches to literacy instruction at all levels for inclusion in the Title I Mathematics program.
* Consults with appropriate personnel of the Office of Accountability to keep apprised of ongoing modifications to systems and procedures as instituted, relative to issues and concerns that may arise in nonpublic school initiatives in the areas of program assessment and student progress.
* Collaborates in the preparation of the Consolidated Application and related program budget and participates in the selection and purchase of instructional materials and equipment.  Provides support for the preparation of staff payrolls and imprest funds.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must possess a valid New York State certificate in School Administration/Supervision (SAS), School District Administrator (SDA) or in School Building Leadership (SBL) as well as a Certificate of Eligibility for Supervisory Placement or a valid New York City license in the specific area for which they are applying.

PLUS
* Experience in assisting in the planning, organizing, developing and implementing of a mathematics program on a school/district/or citywide basis.
* Comprehensive knowledge of the diverse segments and needs of the student population in nonpublic schools.
* Comprehensive knowledge of mathematics concepts and effective teaching methodologies.
Preferred
* Knowledge of all legal and other mandates for the provision of Title I services to students in compliance with theNo Child Left Behind Act of 2001.
* Staff development and parent training skills.
* Ability to prepare written documents and to make oral presentations clearly and concisely.
Salary:$87,991
