This position focuses on Community Colleges. The Director, Community Outreach must be able to leverage knowledge of changing trends in education, industry, economic, and local markets in order to increase awareness of our quality curriculum, student services, and graduate placement among area educators and business leaders. Depending on the size of the campus, the incumbent may or may not have direct reports. Through targeted efforts and strategic partnering and programs, DeVry's Community/Outreach Department focuses on sharing information about DeVry's mission and purpose, programmatic offerings, and DeVry's value to the community it serves.
Responsibilities: * Assists President and Group Marketing Director with strategic planning and implementation of metro and state wide initiatives. * Provides creative and tactical input to metro market leadership and administration. * Organizes and maintains an active computerized database to facilitate data analyses of marketing efforts and interdepartmental communications. * Cultivates interest in DeVry through various types of involvement with area high schools and community colleges, math, science, and technology departments as well as other relevant organizations and clubs. * Hosts tours and sponsor activities for high school administrators, teachers, and counselors. * Develops high school/community colleges lecture opportunities, open houses, and other special events. * Actively participates in local area Chamber of Commerce and other professional, business and educational organizations as determined by the local marketing initiatives. * Possesses knowledge of changing trends in the education industry and economic markets in order to increase awareness of our quality curriculum, student services and graduate placement among area education and business leaders. * Develops and maintains professional working relationships with local area marketing team and with other departmental team members. * Identifies and supports public relations and media opportunities to enhance the DeVry image in the Chicago Metro. * Completes other projects and duties as assigned.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Below are the minimum requirements of the education, experience, knowledge, and skills required to competently perform in this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * Bachelor's Degree required in Business, Marketing or related discipline; Master's degree in related discipline preferred * At least five years of relevant experience in sales, business development/marketing, or public relations required with Bachelor's Degree. At least three years of similar experience with Master's degree. Experience in educational environment preferred. * A minimum of two years of supervisory experience is strongly preferred. * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrated ability to converse comfortably with business, community, and education leaders at all levels. * Excellent presentation skills required. * Knowledge of metro area's social, political, and economic issues required. * Excellent organizational and project management skills required. Experience in leading through influence required. * Advanced PC skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Internet applications, and database management software required.
