The Office of Data and Accountability (ODA) team is focused on providing high quality data, information and analysis to enable the sweeping reforms currently underway at the District of Columbia Public Schools. ODA serves as the analytic hub for the district by providing data to support policy and implementation goals as well as providing assistance in development and dissemination of all achievement related data and oversee and direct all research, evaluation, analytics and testing activities including all summative and formative assessments. ODA is also responsible for overseeing the data system functions for DCPS. The guiding principle of ODA is to support decision-making in DCPS with accurate information about how our students are performing, and how the district as a whole is performing. ODA provides the DCPS community with streamlined data systems that place high quality, results-focused information at its fingertips, and provide the supports to transform data into actionable information. Bachelor's degreeQualifications
* Bachelor's degree and 2-4 years work experience required. * Previous exposure to or experience in the education sector a plus. * Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Powerpoint. * Exceptional written and verbal communication skills required. Responsibilities
* Provides administrative support to Chief to increase efficiency and effectiveness, including but not limited to the following tasks: * Manages calendar and schedules appointments to prioritize work and facilitate appropriate access to the Chief; * Schedules, coordinates, and provides logistical support for Chief's meetings and appointments, including ODA staff meetings; takes notes at meetings as requested; and tracks and distributes follow up items; * Prioritizes and organizes incoming information, including mail, documents for signature, informational materials, phone calls and messages, and email * Prepares and distributes correspondence to effectively communicate Chief's agendas and decisions; * Maintains records and files; * Documents time and attendance; * Secures appropriate signatures and approvals; * Ad hoc budgeting or procurement activities; * Demonstrates appropriate assertiveness in providing support to the Chief-proactively prepares materials, prioritizes information and internal and external activities, anticipates issues, presents decision-making information, and proposes solutions. * Assists with tracking progress of key projects and initiatives within the Chief's scope of responsibilities; ensures proper follow-through on tasks, initiatives, and directives; flags key issues of concern. * Identifies and resolves problems independently, in accordance with existing policies and Chief's principles; exercises judgment and refers issues to directors or other staff as appropriate. * Responds to a variety of inquiries that require basic content knowledge and refers other inquiries to appropriate staff members and other offices, as appropriate. * Acts as a liaison between Chief and a variety of internal and external DCPS stakeholders including parents, teachers, principals, DCPS leadership and internal staff, district government agencies, members of the community, and other partners. * Serves as an initial point of contact and key resource for information requests related to ODA programs; * Responds effectively in a timely manner to requests; * Facilitates communication between Chief and ODA staff about programmatic and procedural issues; * Keeps abreast of various District of Columbia Public Schools procedural requirements and the necessary changes that accompany them. * Builds relationships with ODA staff and other DCPS departments to drive collaboration and project success * Coordinates or implements several small or medium-sized projects, or components of a larger project. * Provides ad hoc support to ODA directors and other staff. * Works under extremely tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment with multiple responsibilities. * Maintains confidentiality of conversations, files, mail, folders and all other confidential documents (electronic and hard-copy). * Utilizes Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint to format executive memos, presentations, charts, graphs and tables for reports and presentations. * Performs other related duties as assigned
