Cloud Security Engineer, Amazon Web Services
Since early 2006, Amazon Web Services (AWS) has provided companies of all sizes with an infrastructure web services platform in the cloud. With AWS you can requisition compute power, storage, and other services-gaining access to a suite of elastic IT infrastructure services as your business demands them. The AWS Security team is responsible for the security and availability of all of the services offered by AWS, including EC2, S3, and others. Our team works with the service teams to solve security challenges at massive scale, and builds tools to automate the auditing and operation of AWS infrastructure.
AWS Security is looking for an Application Security Engineer to ensure that our services, applications, and websites are designed and implemented to the highest standards. If you enjoy analyzing the security of applications and services, discovering and addressing security issues, and quickly reacting to new threat scenarios, this position will provide you with a challenging opportunity.
Key tasks include:
Partner with development teams to carry out Application Security Reviews
Work cooperatively with engineers to ensure that security needs are met in their design
Provide advice and consultancy to internal customers on risk assessment, threat modeling and fixing vulnerabilities
Architect comprehensive strategic designs for relevant problems, specifically to mitigate risk
Share architectural and technical guidance with AWS software and systems team while maintaining a thorough understanding of all AWS services
Develop training materials for general security awareness and specific security technology training
Anticipate and understand security risks to Amazon's AWS business
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
Minimum of 3 years experience with any combinations of the following: threat modeling experience, secure coding, identity management and authentication, software development, cryptography, system and network security
MS in Computer Science or related field
Technical knowledge in system and network security
Exhibit a proactive, solutions based and resourceful approach
Experience building scalable infrastructure software or distributed systems
Possess self-drive to keep moving things forward even in the face of ambiguity and imperfect knowledge (avoid "analysis paralysis")
Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
Sharp analytical abilities and proven design skills
