About the Position:The Intensive English Program (IEP) at Western Washington University maintains a roster of ESL instructors actively interested in and available for teaching positions within the IEP. In anticipation of possible openings throughout the academic year and summer session, applications are accepted continuously for temporary part-time and full-time appointments. Positions may become available at any time and are typically filled on a quarterly basis.
About the Department:The Intensive English Program provides instruction in components of a standard ESL curriculum, with an academic preparation focus, to international students in preparation for application to American colleges or for bilingual careers in their home countries. Courses include grammar, listening and speaking, functions, reading and writing. Instructional levels range from high-beginning to high-advanced/Academic English. Students enroll individually in the program. Enrollment ranges from 55 to 70 students per quarter. Position Responsibilities: Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree and TESOL Certification, or Master's degree in TESOL or closely related field * Teaching experience * Demonstrated ability to communicate with and instruct limited-English speakers from various cultures Preferred Qualifications: * Master's degree in TESOL or closely related field * Experience and demonstrated ability to teach ESL with an academic preparation focus, at all proficiency levels, and across all skill areas * Demonstrated knowledge of current TESOL methodology * Coursework in the study of a second language Academic Emphasis: Job Location:Western Washington University, Bellingham, WA
