Cafeteria Playground Aide
DOJ and fingerprint clearance are required if position is ida Union School District Cafeteria/Playground Aide Definition: Assists the principal in the supervision of students in the cafeteria and/or on the playground. Responsible for the health and safety of the children. Assist children in developing good eating habits and appropriate playground behavior. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: In the Cafeteria: - Supervises students upon their entrance to the cafeteria. - Maintains proper student behavior. - Keeps noise level at an acceptable level. - Encourages students to try all food on tray. - Promotes good manners and eating habits. - Dismisses students in a timely and orderly fashion. - Maintains cleanliness of cafeteria. - Deals with cafeteria problems in a positive manner and refer serious or continuing problems to the principal. - Enforces school rules. - Performs other duties as assigned. On the Playground: - Supervises students upon their dismissal from the cafeteria. - Maintains proper student behavior. - Encourages students to be involved in game activities. - Checks restrooms frequently. - Maintains an attitude of playground problem prevention through alertness. - Is alert to playground hazards and reports same to school principal. - Circulates through playground being attentive to activities taking place. - Encourages good sportsmanship among students. - Controls the number of children who use a particular apparatus. - Deals with playground problems in a positive manner and refers serious or continuing problems to the principal. - Enforces school rules and proper game rules. - Performs all other duties as assigned. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of: - District discipline procedures and school rules - School polices, methods and practices. Ability to: - Relate with students in a manner which will promote discipline and positive self-esteem. - Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with teacher(s), other adults, and students of various backgrounds. - Follow oral and written directions. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this position must perform in carrying out the essential job functions. - Persons performing service in this position classification will exert 10 to 20 pounds of force to frequently lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. - This type of work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods. - Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral information, the manual dexterity to operate business related equipment and handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job. - Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable a person with a disability to perform the essential functions of the job. EDUCATION: - High school graduate EXPERIENCE: - Bilingual experience preferred. - Work experience with children in some capacity is desirable but not required. SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: - Fingerprint clearance required - TB clearance required
