Title: BioVU Genomics Project Manager Location: TN-Nashville-Light Hall Other Locations: We are seeking a highly qualified candidate to serve as the liaison between BioVU, the Vanderbilt DNA Databank, and the Center for Human Genetics Research (CHGR). BioVU currently contains >125,000 DNA samples linked to a de-identified version of the electronic health records known as the Synthetic Derivative (SD). BioVU is a major resource for genetic studies for investigators at Vanderbilt University.
To access this resource, investigators must submit several applications and forms to various entities including, but not limited to, the IRB, the BioVU Review Committee, the Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) (for funding), and the DNA Resource Core (for genotyping services). Each entity requires data or information that may not be readily available or apparent to the investigator. The BioVU Genomics Project Manager position is envisioned to serve as a point person for the investigator initiating an application to access BioVU. The BioVU Genomics Project Manager is expected to assist in the application process by providing basic information required for the application such as power calculations, genotyping/sequencing methods and sample requirements, and SNP selection strategies (for genotyping). The BioVU Genomics Project Manager would also manage the process and flow of all genomic aspects of BioVU including the quality control (QC) process for all DNA variation and investigator-requested analyses performed by the Computational Genomics Core. The BioVU liaison would report directly to a faculty member of CHGR.
Key Functions and Expected Performances: The successful candidate filling this position will be expected to provide genomics expertise related to accessing BioVU. * Assist in the overall application process required to access BioVU * Interact with PI/investigator * Assist in the proposal preparation process * Perform and assist in power calculations * Assist in SNP selection and genotyping platform selection * Assist in sequencing discussions * Assist in DNA sample selection * Manage the genotyping and QC pipeline * Manage DNA plating including special plating requests * Manage QC process and QC report * Manage data delivery to investigator * Manage re-deposit of data for secondary analysis * Direct and manage analysis * Attend internal organizational meetings with BioVU staff, DNA Resources Core staff, and Computational Genomics Core staff * Coordinate genotyping schedules and data delivery * Lead overall BioVU Genomics scientific program development * Design QC pipeline for CNV and Next-Gen sequencing data * Design pipelines for other data such as methylation * Design and conduct studies to characterize the BioVU resource (e.g., genetic ancestry and cryptic relatedness) Additional Information:
This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week.
Salary is commensurate upon years of education and experience.
