Overview:

Ross University School of Medicine, located on the beautiful Caribbean island of Dominica in the West Indies, invites applications for Behavioral Instructors in the Department of Behavioral Sciences for astart date of May 1st, 2012. Our mission is to prepare highly dedicated students to become effective, successful physicians in the United States. Basic science coursework is taught in Dominica and students then complete their clinical studies in the United States. After passing all prerequisite examinations, Ross graduates are licensed to practice medicine in all 50 states of the U.S. Ross University School of Medicine is a division of DeVry, Inc (NYSE:DV)

Education is the primary focus of the faculty. The academic year is divided into three semesters with a new class of students admitted each semester. Lectures and other educational responsibilities continue throughout the year. Effective teachers are sought, particularly individuals who are interested in improving medical education and who work well on a team. Research opportunities exist, primarily in the area of medical education.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The individual will participate in academic programs and carry out responsibilities as assigned by the Department Chair and the Dean of Ross University.

As a Behavioral Science Instructor you will be responsible for observing the students conducting interviews at the community clinic, reviewing clinical histories and providing feedback to students concerning those histories, grading SOAP notes and physical exam done and submit the grade (Pass or Fail) to community clinic coordinator, assist in the special interview session, observe students conducting interviews on campus, facilitate the session with students two days per week, facilitate PBL sessions three days per week, simulation responsibilities as required and grading of reports. In addition, you may be called upon to perform other duties, which may be of benefit to the students of RUSM, including proctoring and tutoring as requested by the Chair of Behavioral Sciences and/or the Dean.
Qualifications:

*Must have the M.D. degree from Ross University School of Medicine and completion of all rotations, interviews and components of Step 2 (this may be negotiable upon discussions with the Chair).
*Interest in the Behavioral Sciences. Positive record/transcripts in Behavioral Sciences and clinical psychiatry rotations.
-Candidates will be selected based on their record of academic achievement.

The position is a temporary one (1) year position from May 1, 2012 through April 30, 2013 and pays US $3750.00 per month. You will also receive one (1) round-trip ticket to and from Dominica and housing for two (2) weeks until you can secure your own accommodations, if you are not currently in Dominica. Health insurance is provided by and paid for by Ross University.

The Department also requires that you be able to be in Dominica for each full semester unless you receive permission from the hiring manager/chair. This means no interviews, late arrival or other activities unless specific permission is given by the hiring manager/chair.
