Represents the organization at meetings, conferences and other events. May develop and present speeches or presentations to generate or enhance awareness of program(s). Provides technical support by evaluating established processes, conducting training, attending operational meetings and networking with affiliated groups. Monitors progress toward achieving established objectives and deadlines. Participates in planning, administering and monitoring program related budgets. Conducts research, designs new initiatives, and collaborates with others to ensure program(s) remain viable. May serve on, hold office in, or chair committees. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in a field related to the program(s) and five years of program related experience, OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training. Preferred Qualifications Position Qualifications: .A bachelor's degree is required and a relevant master's degree is preferred. .Five years experience working in an administrative management role within a research University. .At least 2 years experience preparing and assisting in administering grant proposals, with preference given to training grant experience to include budgetary responsibilities. .Demonstrated written and verbal skills, as well as attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications include: .Experience creating and managing databases .Experience with doctoral training .Experience with web content development and print materials Additional Job Details The position will report to Associate Dean for Research, Dr. Gary Miller, but will be both responsible and accountable to each of the Laney Graduate School doctoral programs associated with the faculties of the Rollins School of Public Health through each program's Director of Graduate Studies (DGS).
The position will provide administrative and programmatic support for all doctoral programs housed in the Rollins School of Public Health including but not limited to arranging coordinating meetings for DGSs and program administrators, student orientation programs and joint student recruitment events.
It is expected that 75% of the position will be dedicated to the coordination and advancement of the doctoral programs, while 25% will be dedicated to activities aimed at enhancing extramural funding opportunities for postdoctoral fellows and junior faculty.
The School currently supports six programs including one that is shared with the Graduate Division of Biological and Biomedical Sciences. Beginning in FY 13, these programs will all have a similar level of support per doctoral student and be administered in a coordinated manner throughout the RSPH. This new position will work directly with doctoral program faculty and staff as well as the Laney Graduate School administrators.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited, to: .Assisting with the development and proposal preparation for training grants .Assisting with the transition of 3rd year doctoral students onto research funding, including proposal preparation .Assisting in the development of marketing materials for RSPH doctoral programs .Functioning as the "point person" for general inquiries about doctoral training in the School .Assist in the development and maintenance each program's website as well as a joint website which includes all programs .Helping facilitate admissions and assist departments in the process .Providing administrative support for all doctoral training grants .Maintaining a variety of related databases including, but not limited to: .Trainee publications, awards, and funding .First positions of those receiving their degrees .Financial support for each student in each program as the student progresses to the award of degree .Contact information for all doctoral graduates .Centralized admissions data for doctoral programs in the School This position involves: Not Applicable
