Job Description JOB DESCRIPTION: Assists program staff in the development and implementation of program initiatives. Writes briefing materials and reports, performs research, and acts as a liaison with national and international contacts. Assists with budget preparation, and tracks project expenditures. May draft grant proposals. Assists in the design and generation of reports. Coordinates logistical aspects of meetings and project-related travel, and prepares correspondence. Represents the program at conferences. Performs related responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications The Atlanta based Emory Institute for the Study of Modern Israel (ISMI) seeks a person to work in an intellectually stimulating environment that focuses on educating broadly about modern Israel and the Middle East. The Assistant Program Coordinator will engage university and non-university constituencies and must have knowledge of modern Israel through either academic training or previous work experience. ISMI is an inter-disciplinary unit of Emory University and has a staff of three. It employs undergraduate interns. The position reports directly to the ISMI Director and to the ISMI Office Manager.

Requirements: a BA degree, with an MA degree preferred; demonstrated excellence in writing, typing, copy-editing, and overall editorial experience. Preference will be given to those with advanced knowledge in use of social media, demonstrated organizational skills. A capacity to undertake directed scholarly research on topics related to Israel and the Middle East is essential. Particular preference will be given to candidates who have a working knowledge of Hebrew and a European language. Salary and benefits commensurate with experience as determined by Emory University. The employment must take place in Atlanta at the ISMI office.

Researches, writes, checks facts, and edits academic and educational materials, including regular use of archives, libraries, internet sites, and digital media. Monitors and checks work assigned to student interns, their Israel related projects, and internship programs in Israel. Manages and promotes the use of social media in order to engage, teach, reach-out, market, and publicize educational materials. Organizes and executes with ISMI staff long distance learning opportunities - webinars, professional development seminars, contemporary issue programs, wave files, etc. Engages audiences such as university groups, civic organizations, non-university educators and the media in learning about aspects of modern Israel.
