The Adelphi University Department of Anthropology seeks a teacher and scholar in cultural anthropology to fill the position of Associate Professor and Department Chair. Applicants must have a Ph.D. and proven ability to build and guide programs. The department is especially interested in candidates with experiences in curriculum reform, liaison-building with other university units, and securing extra-mural funding. The geographic and topical areas of expertise are open, but the preferred candidate will have research experience in medical anthropology and public health. We seek applications from energetic individuals with training in the four-field approach. Candidates must have an established scholarly profile as well as a demonstrated record of undergraduate teaching, mentoring, and advising. In addition to Chairperson duties candidates will teach cultural anthropology courses at all undergraduate levels and engage students in an active research program. Applications accepted through December 15, 2011. Candidates whose applications are received before November 10, 2011 will be considered for interviews at the 2011 American Anthropological Association annual meeting in Montréal, Canada (16-20 November).
