About the Position:Woodring College of Education, Western Washington University, seeks a collaborative, dynamic, and visionary leader to serve as Associate Dean. Woodring College is the foundational college on the Western Washington University campus and is NCATE accredited. It prepares some of the highest numbers of teachers and has the only undergraduate program in Human Services in the state of Washington. The Associate Dean reports to the Dean and works directly with all under-graduate and graduate programs. College programs prepare education, human service, and rehabilitation counseling professionals. The position is a twelve-month administrative assignment, with tenure granted in one of the academic departments within the college. About the Department:Woodring College of Education Position Responsibilities: * Coordinate the curriculum approval and scheduling processes * Assist the dean with private sector fundraising and foundation activities * Engage in special projects, grant writing, and College initiatives as assigned by the dean * Analyze college-wide data and provide summary reports * Assist the dean with the completion of annual reports for state and national organizations * Assist with college diversity initiatives * Oversee publicity and communications with external agencies * Interact with local school district leadership and state government agencies * Coordinate faculty, staff, and student awards/scholarships/professional development * Maintain all Woodring College of Education policy and governance documents and revise documents as needed to incorporate new and revised policies and procedures * Coordinate common efforts of the departments * Represent the Dean's Office on a variety of college and university committees * Coordinate day-to-day college operations such as computer/technology purchases Required Qualifications: * Earned doctorate * Successful university teaching experience * Teaching, service and scholarly activity commensurate with general tenure requirements of the college and university * Experience as an effective administrator at the department chair level or above * Demonstrated commitment to and leadership in working with diverse students, staff, and constituents * Successful work experience in P-12 schools and/or community based organizations with children, youth or adults * Effective communication and collaboration skills in a complex organization and network of programs * Exemplary writing skills * Strong record of scholarship * Strength in one of the following areas within the college and demonstrated knowledge of the remaining areas: teacher education, school administration, human services and rehabilitation counseling, adult education Preferred Qualifications: * Experience in private donor funding * More than one language or significant experience with more than one culture * Experience working with children, youth and/or adults in schools and/or a community setting * Curriculum and data analysis skills Academic Emphasis:N/A Job Location:Western Washington University, Bellingham, WA
