Job Description
Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Behavioral Sciences and Education, invites applications for a tenure-track appointment as Assistant Professor of Education beginning August 2012. An earned doctorate in curriculum and instruction or related field is required. A candidate with research interests in social and cultural foundations of education, student engagement and motivation, or science and math initiatives is desired, although any research interest will be considered. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in PreK-12 teaching in an urban setting or with diverse populations. Also desirable is experience in clinical and field-based supervision. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in the teacher certification program and graduate courses in the Master’s of Education in Teaching and Curriculum program. Responsibilities also include clinical and field-based supervising, advising undergraduate and graduate students, and serving on master's committees.
Teacher Education programs are fully accredited by NCATE with undergraduate majors in PreK-8th grade teacher education, and support secondary education in the areas of English, mathematics, and social studies. The School also has master's degree programs in Teaching and Curriculum, Literacy Education, Health Education, Training and Development; a program in Principal Certification; and a doctoral program in Adult Education.
