Assistant Director, Office of Professional Standards and Compliance

Job Descriptions:
The Assistant Director of OPSCwill plan and direct quality assurance programs and projects related to the ETS Standards for Quality and Fairness and the Audit process.

The Assistant Director will plan and direct activities and policies related to the ETS Standards and will also direct activities associated with the financial and procurement processes, score integrity process, publications, business continuity process, and other corporate processes.

Responsibilities: Plan and direct in conjunction with the Director, Standards and Audits, OPSC, activities that are part of the ETS Audit Program to assess and maintain compliance with the ETS Standards for Quality and Fairness.

The activities include establishing audit policies, attending and at times convening meetings regarding audit functions and Standards review and revision, following up on audit deficiencies with status reports and corrective assistance and preparing reports for senior management and the ETS Trustees.

Plan and direct, in conjunction with the Chair, Board of Review, activities that are part of the score integrity process, such as those related to misconduct, special panels, and score validity cases.

Serve as back-up to the Chair.

Working with the Office of Disability Policy staff members, plan and direct activities to improve service and accessibility to test takers with disabilities.

Participate in projects to assure that quality procedures related to professional standards are being maintained. Analyze work flows and processes; work closely with ETS management, teams or committees, programs and systems staffs to assess standards-related needs; suggest improved processes, and develop new procedures in light of emerging technologies, especially related to test takers with disabilities and testing integrity and corporate contracts.

Working with the Directors or Executive Directors, plan and coordinate efforts related to external panel meetings related to quality and fairness.

Conduct special projects and prepare special reports for senior management including the General Counsel’s Office, as requested.

Undertake analyses, assure adequate review, and prepare recommendations or information as specified.
Required Experience:
Masters degree preferred in statistics, psychology, measurement or other closely related field.

Must be familiar with a broad range of educational and measurement issues and challenges, such as in the application of professional standards and testing integrity. BA required at a minimum.

Relevant Years of Experience Required: At least four-six years broad corporate experience in statistical analysis, research, assessment development, psychometrics, education or related fields is required.

Other Requirements: Knowledge of/ability to quickly learn ETS organizational structure, policies and procedures, and products and services necessary to plan and direct quality assurance activities

Knowledge of educational measurement and professional standards necessary to evaluate organizational standards and performance and to formulate solutions to audit deficiencies.

Ability to communicate measurement information effectively to professional staff both orally and in writing.

Ability to collaborate in policy development.

Ability to work independently and with patience and diplomacy in a team environment.

Ability to exercise discretion in handling sensitive and confidential material.

Ability to demonstrate sensitivity and patience in communications with test takers and their advocates in score integrity situations.
