Auto req ID 25678BR Business Title Assistant Director for Undergraduate Studies in Environmental Sciences & Engineering School/Unit School of Engineering & Applied Sciences Sub-Unit ------------ Location USA - MA - Cambridge Job Function Academic Time Status Full-time Schedule Department Academic Salary Grade 058 Union 00 - Non Union, Exempt or Temporary Duties & Responsibilities The School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) seeks qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Director for Undergraduate Studies in Environmental Sciences and Engineering with a concurrent lectureship in environmental sciences and engineering. The successful candidate will teach or co-teach one entry-level course each semester. Other responsibilities include: serving as the primary academic adviser for students in the Environmental Sciences and Engineering track of the Engineering Sciences AB and SB degrees; identifying and coordinating placements for research opportunities within SEAS or other Harvard research laboratories; working with the SEAS Student Services Office on all documentation and events related to the concentration; assisting in organizing regular community events and student groups; working with faculty members to identify best pedagogical practices and to develop courses. May assist with developing or teaching design courses.
Basic Qualifications This position requires a Ph.D. in environmental engineering or a related field; the documented ability to teach effectively to undergraduate students; excellent communication skills; a strong commitment to education and mentoring, including experience with advising and course/program development.
