Overview:

Ross University School of Medicine, located on the beautiful Caribbean island of Dominica in the West Indies, invites applications for Anatomy Laboratory Demonstrators. We are currently seeking applicants to start May 1, 2012. Our mission is to prepare highly dedicated students to become effective, successful physicians in the United States. Basic science coursework is taught in Dominica and students then complete their clinical studies in the United States. After passing all prerequisite examinations, Ross graduates are licensed to practice medicine in all 50 states of the U.S. Ross University School of Medicine is a division of DeVry, Inc (NYSE:DV)

Education is the primary focus of the faculty. The academic year is divided into three semesters with a new class of students admitted each semester. Lectures and other educational responsibilities continue throughout the year. Effective teachers are sought, particularly individuals who are interested in improving medical education and who work well on a team. Research opportunities exist, primarily in the area of medical education.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* As a full-time Anatomy Laboratory Demonstrator you will be responsible for instruction in the Gross Anatomy Laboratory to 1st and 2nd semester medical students. Responsibilities will also include possible prosection and dissection of specimens for student use and instrcution. You will also be required to facilitate at least two (2) Problem Based Learning Sessions (PBL) per semester. In addition, you may be called upon to perform other duties, which may be of benefit to the students of RUSM including proctoring and tutoring as requested by the Anatomy Department Vice Chair, Anatomy Department Chair or Dean.
Qualifications:


* Masters degree in Anatomy or equivalent.
* Extensive knowledge of gross anatomy.
* Must have experience prosecting human specimens and extensive dissection experience.
* Prior experience with cadaveric anatomy laboratory instruction at the graduate level.
* Ability to relate anatomical concepts to clinical scenarios
* Excellent communication skills in English.
* Strong teaching skills and experience or evidence of potential.
* Desire for self improvement
* Flexibility and ability to work well on a team.

Currently, we hire two different types of Instructors:

1-Full-time regular employees: If you choose this option, you sign a 1-year initial term with the option to renew. You will get all the benefits that Ross University has to offer including health coverage for employee, success sharing, a deferred compensation plan, stock purchase option, the geographical living allowance, the annual travel benefit and professional development. You will receive one (1) round-trip coach airfare ticket, US $1000 for relocation and the salary is US $45,000.

2-Full-time temporary employee: These employees sign an offer for one semester. They may renew semester by semester. This is for individuals who plan to go to medical school or may have other opportunities and are not sure about time commitment. These demonstrators receive US $3750.00/month, but no benefits.
