The Alumni Relations Officer reports to the Director of Advancement in a results oriented, fast-paced, team environment where he/she will play a key role in delivering rich programming to increase alumni engagement levels among a broad, diversified base of alumni and in alignment with institutional-wide fundraising campaign. The incumbent will work closely with Arts & Science and the Division of University Advancement to ensure that all alumni programs, events and communications support are aligned with the Advancement mission of the University. The Alumni Relations Officer networks with and engages alumni; participates in and supports programs and best practices for involving alumni; coordinates and executes events, develops creative and effective communication material to support alumni activity, coordinates direct mail and electronic communications, maintains web presence on social and multi-media tools and channels, tracks activity, compiles reports and evaluates the effectiveness of alumni engagement activities and brings to the attention of the Director of Advancement. In addition, the incumbent will provide ongoing support to various alumni groups by meeting with members, and identifying/recruiting alumni as potential speakers, mentors and alumni volunteers. The incumbent also works collaboratively with a second Alumni Relations Officer and assists the Assistant Dean and Executive Director and other members of the Advancement team in achieving the goals of Advancement, particularly with respect to relationship building mechanisms with alumni and future alumni.
Minimum Qualifications:

Education: University degree, preferably from the University of Toronto, or equivalent acceptable combination of education and experience.

Experience: Minimum three years' relevant experience in the advancement field, preferably in an educational setting, with proven success in promoting alumni involvement and working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. Related experience in marketing or public relations would be considered an asset.

Skills: Well developed skills in MS Office, database software, web content management systems, desktop publishing (Adobe Creative Suite, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator), HTML and CSS required. Demonstrated abilities working with social and multi-media tools and channels, such as LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube and basic graphic design experience and skills an asset.

Other: Excellent and proven (oral and written) communication skills with the ability to draft, proof and edit a range of written material; exceptional interpersonal skills and professional presence necessary to interact with alumni, senior volunteers and stakeholders; excellent problem solving skills; ability to use own initiative and exercise sound judgment, tact, diplomacy, discretion and confidentiality; excellent business acumen and strategic aptitude; strong organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines, with thorough attention to detail and consistent follow through; ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team; ability to represent the Faculty of Arts & Science through an understanding of its mission and brand; ability to work a flexible schedule which allows for after-hours events and meetings.
