Description: The Surveillance Systems Group pioneers integrated sensing and decision support systems for both Air Traffic Control and Homeland Air Defense. to accomplish these goals, this group employs a broad base of analysis, modeling, algorithm development, signal processing, software architecture and development, RF and digital hardware design, and system integration skills.
A motivated staff member is needed in the design and application of surveillance systems as well as decision support logic to include collision avoidance and separation assurance systems. Work will span areas related to safe, efficient, and secure air traffic surveillance, situation assessment, and collision avoidance for conventional and unmanned aircraft. Example problem areas include development and assessment of novel approaches to collision avoidance alerting and response, performance and safety analysis for collision avoidance and separation assurance functions as well as modeling and simulation. Activities will include computer programming, modeling, simulation, and data analysis. Will use a variety of tools such as MATLAB and Java/C++ and work as part of a team.
Requirements:
MS in Computer Science or Aeronautical Engineering or BS with minimum of 3 years of directly related experience.
Experience in probability and statistics as well as algorithm development is required. Experience with Markov Decision Processes desired. Experience with C++ is required. Experience with Matlab is desired.
Ability to work with other internal and external organizations in a team environment is required. Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts in a clear, concise manner in written and oral forms are also required. Will be expected to work closely with other staff.
