Advanced Manufacturing Engineer•Develops, implements, and maintains assembly and testing methods, operation sequences and processes in the fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies. RESPONSIBILITIES •Analyzes assembly issues and identify, test and implement the most effective solutions in a timely manner. •Aids in the new product development process by identifying effective and efficient assembly techniques and manufacturing processes to be used. •Ensures manufacturing documentation and process validation are complete and accurate. •Conducts analysis on variables within the company and addresses recurring issues as appropriate. •Assists vendors in resolving manufacturing and quality issues. •Designs, builds, and/or purchases fixtures, equipment and tools as needed to ensure quality products at minimal costs. •Develops systems to keep reports and documentation updated and accurate (MAPs, DHRs, fixture database, etc.). •Designs, implements, maintains and improves in-process checks so as to improve the quality of the product and catch any failures at the earliest stage possible. •Observes and improves the manufacturing processes and makes the necessary changes in the AS400 system or Oracle to reflect the same. •May interact, by telephone, with customers to resolve product issues. • May visit customer sites to troubleshoot product problems. •May train others on manufacturing engineering related topics. •Employee has the necessary authority to execute above mentioned job responsibilities, and will have authority to carry out specific responsibilities defined by quality system documents. Employee has authority to recommend and initiate preventative and correction action with regard to product nonconformances and quality system activities. •May coordinate the activities of 1 or more subordinates. •May evaluate the performance of 1 or more employees based on pre-established performance parameters. •Coaches and develops subordinates and production team members.
Qualifications/Work Experience
•5 years experience as Manufacturing Engineer or equivalent. •Must be able to generate, follow and explain detailed instructions, assembly and inspection procedures. •Demonstrated mechanical/electrical problem solving skills. •Must be able to complete detailed documentation accurately. •Must be able to analyze and correct complex product and/or process issues using independent judgment. •Must be able to observe and improve manufacturing processes. •Must be able to design, implement, maintain and improve in-process testing equipment and procedures. •Must be able to observe product shortcomings and be able to suggest suitable design improvements to the appropriate personnel. •Experience in developing and working with small group problem solving teams. •Excellent analytical skills. •Excellent interpersonal cmmunication skills. •Demonstrated ability to operate small hand tools (e.g. pliers, screwdrivers, hammer, wrenches, etc.), power tools and test/inspection equipment. •Must be able to observe and correct minute inconsistencies (e.g. in the printed word, product appearance, etc.).
Education and/or Special Training
Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, computer, or software engineering.
