General Summary
The Admissions Specialist/Cashier obtains accurate patient demographic and financial information for registration and accurate claim reimbursement. This position is responsible for upfront collections and quoting the estimated patient portion at the time of registration to allow the hospital to collect at the time of service. The incumbent must also have knowledge of various HMOs, POSs, PPOs, commercial/governmental payors, and be familiar with the hospitals contract agreements with third party payors. This position is also responsible for ensuring that patients are in the correct patient type, and that the accommodation charges are consistent with the level of care provided.
Minimum Job Qualifications
Minimum Education: High School/GED
Minimum years in field previous to employment: 2
Minimum Job Qualifications: Working knowledge of banking and cash handling requirements. Knowledge and understanding of: personal computers, cash registers, Windows based software, preferably GroupWise, Microsoft Office, HBOC, and ability to navigate through the Internet. Must have the ability to resolve problems and have excellent communication skills, telephone customer service, and interpersonal skills. Must be able to multi-task and maintain a positive attitude. Must have the ability to resolve problems, analyze, and interpret Health System, Departmental, and technical procedures. Must be able to manage multiple concurrent activities and balance priorities to meet changing requirements and commitments and maintain a positive attitude. Must have the ability to work with difficult people and situations, seeking a positive outcome.
