Position: ABE/GED/ELL Specialist-Cherokee Beginning Date: Immediately Reports To: Administrative Program Coordinator About the Position: The purpose of this position is to provide instructional assistance to students to increase their basic educational and GED skills and/or their limited English speaking, reading and writing skills. Minimum Qualifications: "Bachelor's degree. "Bilingual proficiency a plus and may be required for some positions. "Credits or certification in ELL a plus. Job Responsibilities: "Assess the academic needs of student learners. "Schedule, administer, score, and interpret assessment and other tests in career and course planning; assist students with interpretation. "Work with students to increase their basic skill development; recommend class placement. "Advise students of needed classes and appropriate support services. "Provide instructional assistance and classroom management to student learners. "Refer students to individual or group tutoring for coursework assistance. "Collect and maintain student data and program records. "Work with instructors, agency representatives and others to deliver services and study materials to students. "Assist with the development of ABE and ELL curriculum. "Assist in the recruitment, enrollment and retention of student learners. "Work with students involved with IBEST (Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training). "Use excellent communication and human relation skills. "Use database applications to create and manage files and communicate requested information, maintaining confidentiality
Employment Conditions: This is a part-time grade 5 position working 6 hours per week, Tuesday and Thursday 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Benefits will include retirement.
