Performs bioanalytical laboratory functions required in support of pharmaceutical discover, validation and sample analysis studies using GLP guidelines and applicable SOP's Scope of Responsibilities: The major duties and responsibilities of a Senior Research Scientist include the following: 1. Actively participates in developing new methods. 2. Designs and evaluate assay validations. 3. Performs routine method development and assay troubleshooting with minimal direction. Determines best method for purpose. 4. Performs and documents maintenance, trouble-shooting and repairs on advanced instrumentation with support of service engineers or other trained supervisory personnel as applicable. 5. Communicates with team members and management regarding project status, purpose, scheduling, problems, etc. Communicates with clients regarding technical or project status issues. 6. Performs technical reviews of analytical data, methods or equipment validations. 7. Assists in operational improvements and/or evaluation of new analytical techniques or technology. 8. Assists in training of other laboratory personnel. 9. Assists in team member reviews. In the absence of the Group Leader, has authority to make decisions regarding projects in collaboration with the Project Manager(s). 10. Represents NWT Bioanalytical Divisions at industry meetings, client visits. Presents scientific posters or presentations both in-house and publicly. 11. Performs extraction and/or analysis of drugs from biological samples for discovery, validation and sample analysis projects according to prescribed GLP and SOP procedures and practices as well as Bioanalytical Division policies and guidelines and project directives. 12. Other duties as assigned. Job Requirements : Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in the Natural Sciences. Knowledgeable in extraction, including SPE, and LC, GC and mass spectrometry theory as applicable. Good understanding of the contract bioanalytical business and technology. Good understanding of GLP guidelines and basic statistics. Skills: Demonstrated ability to perform at a research scientist level. Demonstrated ability to review sample analysis and validation data and manage projects within their stated scope. Possesses adequate analytical skills and Watson skills to perform routine job functions independently. Possesses the ability to resolve problems with some direction. Can serve as a leader, mentor/trainer for other laboratory staff. Experience: Minimum one year as a Research Scientist or 6 years equivalent education or relevant experience.
