Job SummaryA postdoctoral research assistant position is available in a specific area of computational atomic physics. In particular, research will be aimed at extending existing, and developing new, time-dependent methods to describe photo-processes involving atoms and molecules, and to seek control regimes. Additional opportunities to use these methods to study the interaction of ions or electrons with atoms and molecules will also be available. The principal methods to be used and developed are lattice-based solution of the time-dependent Schrodinger equation and classical trajectory Monte Carlo approaches. Both fundamental physical insights and applications of the work in areas such as plasma science and astrophysics will be pursued. This position is for one year with the possibility of a second given satisfactory research progress achieved and availability of funds.Minimum QualificationsThe applicant must: * Have previously earned a PhD in theoretical Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Physics, or a closely related field. * Be proficient in computational research in this area, including the use of computing clusters and supercomputers using hundreds to thousands of cores, and * Have extensive experience in programming using Fortran and/or C.Special Instructions to ApplicantPlease include a list of publications in your Curriculum Vita.Posting Origination:UNT
