Vanderbilt is seeking a highly-qualified candidate for a Programmer/Business Analyst position.
The Programmer/Business Analyst will be responsible for consulting with end-users on data needs and ensuring a successful delivery of timely and accurate data. Responsibilities will include developing and refining data analytics/reporting requirements to determine availability of data, creating reports to pull data from multiple enterprise systems and designing optimal storage of data to meet data retrieval requirements.
The Programmer/Business Analyst will also be responsible for supporting the design, development, testing, and debugging of existing software that collects and stores the data. Will work with technical staff and users to understand problems and requirements to develop solutions and improvements to the software.

Key Functions and Expected Performances:
1. Plan, design, and modify existing data retrieval processes using Business Objects, Oracle SQL and/or BIRT Reporting Tools. Plan, design, and modify existing computer-based information system to ensure data accuracy and availability for reporting. Evaluate and establish data processing policies, methods, and procedures. Update systems data and prepare conversion requirements.
2. Conduct needs analysis for the development of new reports and the modification of existing reporting methods. Confer with user management in implementing modifications to existing systems.
3. Serve as project leader to ensure project objectives in system development, maintenance, and modification. Assign work load and establish priorities for programmers and other data processing staff reporting on a project basis. Instruct in methods and procedures using effective teaching techniques. Handle employee problems. Make recommendations to hire, terminate and discipline according to institutional policies.
4. Develop appropriate documentation. Compile documentation for design changes or creation criteria and design and prepare forms, reports, and letters in a timely manner.
5. Actively identify and participate in training, education and development activities to improve own knowledge and performance to sustain and enhance professional development. Keep up-to-date on software systems, operation procedures, and technological developments in systems and programming.
6. Serve as technical resource to users and others in the department. Organize and teach courses on computer system usage. Assist with research projects and interprets test data. May require availability for call after normal working hours. Advise on scheduling capacity and efficient use of data and troubleshoot and correct production problems.

Oracle SQL
Business Objects Reporting/Designer
Java Development

This is a full-time position.
Salary is commensurate upon years of education and experience.
