Job Description Emory University's Oxford College invites applications for a Visiting Lecturer/Assistant Professor to fill a one-year position, beginning in August, 2013. The successful candidate will teach introductory mathematics and statistics courses and sophomore-level courses for mathematics and science majors.
Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with liberal arts colleges is desirable.
A Master's degree (for Visiting Lecturer) or a Ph.D. (for Visiting Assistant Professor) in a mathematical science at the time of appointment is required, along with demonstrated teaching experience. Candidates must be committed to excellence in teaching.
Additional Job Details Oxford College is a specialized division of Emory University, located 38 miles east of Atlanta, providing a transformative, liberal arts intensive program for the first two years of an Emory baccalaureate degree. The Faculty at Oxford is committed to realizing the possibilities inherent in the formative first two years of the undergraduate experience and in concentrating on educational goals characteristic of liberal arts education. Some members make the learning process the object of their scholarship while others pursue more traditional forms of scholarship. The College provides support for ongoing professional development including access to the resources of one of the world's leading research universities, and has established promotion and tenure criteria that are consistent with its mission.
